Vyborg

Timeline: 2010
Location: Offshore Geoje, Korea
Client: Dockwise Group
Operator: Vyborg Shipyard (Gazflot)
Topsides Weight: 19,000 MT

Project Description:
Dockwise was the contractor of choice for the Vyborg Project, which involved the transport of two 15,000 metric ton semi-submersible hulls and two 19,000 metric ton topsides, which were installed using an innovative floating float-over method.

OKI Scope of Work:
OKI supplied float-over hardware for the twin 19,000 metric ton topside installations. The LMUs (Leg Mating Units) were installed onshore at SHI’s (SAMSUNG HEAVY INDUSTRIES) yard and the stabbing points were installed on the top of the submerged hull columns. Because the LMUs were located as part of the topsides, OKI developed a structural melting system to close the final gap, as opposed to the industry accepted sand jack system.

Key Details:
The Leg Mating Units (LMUs) provided functions for both alignment and impact reduction during the load transfer from the heavy lift vessel (HLV) to the hull.
OKI designed, manufactured, and delivered the following for the twin Vyborg float-over installations:
12 Leg Mating Units
12 Foundation Sleeves
12 Stabbing Cones
